No REDD! Teach-In

Over 22,000 small farmers were violently evicted from their land for a REDD-type project in Uganda. Could the same thing happen to you? What is REDD? Come to the No REDD! Teach-In to find out how to protect your community from this land grabbing false solution to climate change. According to the United Nations, REDD stands for Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation. But really REDD is about Reaping profits from Evictions, land grabs, Deforestation and Destruction of biodiversity. The basic idea of the REDD scam is that Northern industrialized countries want to grab the forests and land of the Global South as sponges for their pollution so that they don’t have to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at source. In Africa, REDD is emerging as a new form of colonialism, slavery, economic subjugation and a driver of land grabs so massive that they may constitute a continent grab. Nonetheless, given the de facto financial censorship of opposition to REDD, systematic information on the dangers of REDD have not yet been provided to civil society. Our Teach-In will be participatory and fun. Come help warn the world about this new form of colonialism! Join the No REDD! resistance.
